Advices from an ex-ETFer

Franz is one of our historic players, he would have been the perfect fit for Lisbon - also because he has special ties to Portugal (he either taught german to portuguese or portuguese to germans... or just lived somewhere where people were talking portuguese, or...  :-)

so here's a bit of German advice on Portugal, coming fresh from Belgium:

Ask for the
-       casa do Alentejo (folkloric building not far from Rossio with traditional restaurant in the first floor) - http://www.golisbon.com/food/restaurants/Casa-do-Alentejo.html,
-       solar do vinho de porto (for tasting different port wine, I was there the last time twenty years ago, it was a bit old fashioned but fancy) (http://www.tripadvisor.fr/Attraction_Review-g189158-d195862-Reviews-Port_Wine_House_Solar_do_Vinho_do_Porto-Lisbon_Estremadura.html) and
-       cervejeria trindade (a very known Portuguese restaurant
(http://www.cervejariatrindade.pt/trindade_english.html) – always coowded and prices a bit elevated but atmosphere was good and nice "azulejos"

But food and beers should not be the problem when you will be in Lisbon.

Once the jazz club (hot club lisboa) was a quite particular place but first it seems to be closed due to a fire in 2009 and maybe anyway not best location for a bunch of drunken guys from an European agency – http://translate.google.de/translate?hl=fr&langpair=en%7Cfr&u=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Club_of_Portugal

For you better to check out the bars in bairro alto or when later for music places (alcantara or docks)

Good luck or boa sorte as the Portuguese say.

Best,
Franz
